Doha Marine Ferry Terminal
Description
Highness Architecture Engineering and Interior’s scope of work was to design a building that is iconic and contemporary, simultaneously preserving and promoting Qatar’s tradition and heritage.
The inspiration for the floating roof of the passenger terminal building is the gentle and elegant curve of traditional Qatari dhows. The roof made use of rich timber-color cladding and paneling, reminiscent of the timber colors of traditional dhow vessels.
In the evening, the terminal building’s form will simulate a Dhow boat sailing in the ocean; the undulating effect of the kinetic light sculpture inside the terminal will create the effect of a gentle rippling ocean wave.
